The domain name Webcam.com sold for 1.02 Million
dollars ($1,020,000) in Rick Latona's adult domain auction in April
this year. This was the top sale of the auction with most of the other
names either selling for price well below expectations or not receiving
any bids at all.
Webcam.com failed to sell in the live auction but was successfuly sold
a short time later in the silent auction. Rick Latona was so
dissapointed with the results he has announced that he will not be
participating in any more adult domain auctions from now on. As
compensation for such poor results Rick has generously paid out an
additional $300 each to all the people who had names sell for less than
$500 in the auction.
The owner of Webcams.com believes much of the traffic to Webcam.com
comes from mistyped visitors to his website, He also said he would have
paid 1.2 Million for Webcam.com if he had known it was for sale.
Webcam.com is currently simply redirected to another webcam site,
CamLive. This seems like an enormous waste of potential for such a
great domain name and we hope to see it developed with it's own content
in future.
